Josefine Welsch

Josefine Welsch (born November 9, 1876 in Vienna ; † January 25, 1959 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SDAP ). Welsch was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1927 to 1934 .

After finishing elementary school, Welsch attended the community school and subsequently the advanced training school. She then completed an apprenticeship as a clothes maker and was employed as a manipulator in an embroidery shop. Welsch lived as a hairdresser in Liesing and was a member of the local council . In addition, she was chairwoman of the social democratic women's organization in the district under the Vienna Woods . Welsch represented the Social Democratic Labor Party between May 20, 1927 and February 16, 1934 in the Lower Austrian state parliament. She lost her mandate in the course of the Austrian civil war and the ban on the SDAP.

The Welschgasse in Vienna Liesing is named after her.
