Josep Soler i Ventura

Josep Soler i Ventura (* 1872 in Granollers ; † August 9, 1946 in Barcelona ) was a Catalan cellist and long-time professor of this instrument at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona .

Live and act

Soler probably studied cello with Joan Baucís at the Conservatori del Liceu . At the age of ten he joined the Escolania de la Mercè choir in Barcelona. At the age of 13 he was a member of several orchestras. Soler initially worked as a soloist in the orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. From November 1896 until 1940 he was professor of violoncello at the Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona for more than 40 years . During this extremely long teaching activity he trained the following cellists , among others: Antoni Sala i Julià , Josep Trotta i Millan , Antoni Planàs i Marca , Josep Ricart i Matas , Rogel·li Huguet i Tagell , Aurèlia Sancristòfol , Sants Sagrera i Anglada , Aurora Bertrana i Salazar (daughter of the writer Prudenci Bertrana ), Gabriel Rodó i Vergés , Josep Valls i Royo , Joan Pich i Santasusana and Josep Guinart i Ortiga .
