Joseph-Fidel Leimbacher (* 1813 in Meienberg ; † October 4, 1864 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) was a federal builder. Little is known biographically about the son of the Freiamt- based builder Fidel Leimbacher, who comes from Vorarlberg, his importance comes from the two classicist churches he built in Cressier and Belfaux , which are Swiss cultural assets of national importance .

It is possible that Leimbacher left his homeland at that time, as a certificate issued in 1832 suggests; nothing is known about his training. In any case, he settled in Freiburg in 1838, where he stayed until the end of his life and in 1850 also acquired the right of home. In Friborg he worked with the canton master builder Weibel , through whose intermediary he also received the order for the parish church of Cressier, which was built from 1841 to 1844. The planning of the Belfaux church also began in 1841, but it dragged on until 1852.
