Joseph Adalbert von Desfours (Czech Josef Vojtěch, hrabě Desfours ; born April 25, 1734 in Prague ; † June 5, 1791 ibid) was an imperial-royal captain and from 1786 to 1791 landlord of the Eastern Bohemian rule Nachod .

Life

Joseph Adalbert came from the Bohemian noble family Desfours . His parents were Count Albrecht Maximilian Desfours (1708–1748) and Ludmila Maximiliane Piccolomini d'Aragona (1703–1768), a daughter of Duke Lorenzo Piccolomini . On June 15, 1766, Joseph Adalbert married Countess Marie Anna Desfour du Mont et Athienville (1734-1803). The marriage remained childless.

After the death of his mother Ludmila in 1768, Joseph Adalbert inherited Studnitz , to whom she came in will in 1742 after the death of her brother Giovanni Venceslao Piccolomini . It was an allod that did not belong to the family fideikommiss of the Náchod rule, so that it could be freely inherited.

After the family branch of the Piccolomini-Todeschini with Duke Giuseppe Parille Piccolomini in 1783 in the male line, Joseph Adalbert, as the grandson of Duke Lorenzo Piccolomini, asserted his claim to the Family Fideikommiss Náchod. Since Ettore Pignatelli Tagliavia d'Aragona Cortés (1742–1800), Duke of Monteleone , who was married to Anna Maria, a sister of Duke Giuseppe Parille Piccolomini, wanted to acquire the inheritance, there was a dispute over several years of inheritance, which finally ended in 1786 was decided in favor of Joseph Adalbert. Due to the disputes over the inheritance, the Náchod rule, which had been administered by the administrator Jan Václav Kratochvíl since July 24, 1783 , was economically neglected and burdened with large debts. These were increased during the reign of Joseph Adalbert. After his death in 1791, his relative Franz Anton von Desfours ( František Antonín, hrabě Desfour ) could not pay the debts he left behind, so that the entire property had to be auctioned. In this way, on September 13, 1792, the Náchod castle and estate came to the Courland Duke Peter von Biron .
