Joseph Alcazar

Joseph Alcazar (born June 15, 1911 in Oran , Algeria , † April 4, 1979 ) was a French football player .

Career

The center forward , who grew up in Algeria as the son of a Spanish family, played eleven games for the French national football team between 1931 and 1935 , scoring two goals.

At the Football World Cup in Italy in 1934 , Alcazar was part of the Bleus squad . He was in the eleven, which in the round of 16 against Austria only lost 3-2 after extra time and were eliminated from the tournament.

In 1935, the goal scorer called "Pepito" became French cup winner with Olympique Marseille . For OM he scored 65 goals in 91 first division games between 1932 and 1936 , including Marseille's very first goal in this professional division; In this "debut season" he was also the third most successful goalscorer in Division 1 .
