Joseph Brodmann
Joseph Johann Brodmann (born September 21, 1763 in Deuna , Eichsfeld , † May 13, 1848 in Vienna ) was an outstanding piano maker in his time .
Born in Prussia as the son of the master carpenter Johann Brodmann and his wife Maria Elisabeth born. Joseph Brodmann, born in sword, trained as a carpenter and came to Vienna in 1783, where he became a journeyman with the young organ and piano builder Ferdinand Hofmann (1756? -1829). On October 14, 1796, he took the Viennese oath and set up a piano maker workshop. His apprentice Ignaz Bösendorfer took over the business in 1828, which today is one of the world's leading piano manufacturers alongside Steinway & Sons . The instruments of Brodmann were investigated by Ludwig van Beethoven and Carl Maria von Weber played and appreciated.
