Joseph Cowen
Joseph Cowen (* 1868 ; † 1932 ) was a businessman in London and a friend of Theodor Herzl . After attending the first Zionist Congress , he became one of Herzl's most effective helpers in England.
In 1902 he accompanied Herzl to Constantinople to visit Sultan Abdul Hamid .
Joseph Cowen was a member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Colonial Trust (see Bank Leumi ) and was its chairman from 1919.
I.a. he helped Chaim Weizmann in the negotiations to obtain the Balfour Declaration .
