Joseph Emmanuel II. Toma (born August 8, 1852 in Alqosh ; † July 21, 1947 ) was Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldean Catholic Church from 1900 to 1947 .

Life

He was trained at the Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut, which is run by Jesuits . He was ordained a priest on July 10, 1879, he was appointed bishop of Siirt of the Chaldeans and on July 24, 1892 he was ordained a bishop . On July 9, 1900, he was appointed and on December 17, 1900 he was enthroned as Patriarch of Babylon the Chaldeans. Joseph Emmanuel II. Toma was a priest for 68 years , of which 55 years were bishop and 47 years were patriarch.

His tomb is in the Mart Meskinta Cathedral in Mosul.
