Joseph Ghanima
Joseph VII. Ghanima (also Yousef VII. Ghanima ), real name Joseph Ghanima (born January 29, 1881 in Mosul , Iraq ; † July 8, 1958 ) was the Chaldean Patriarch of Babylon from 1947 to 1958 .
Life
Joseph Ghanima was ordained a priest for the Chaldean Catholic Church on May 15, 1904 . On February 28, 1925 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Baghdad and at the same time titular bishop of Colybrassus . The episcopal ordination donated to him Joseph VI. Emmanuel II Thomas , Patriarch of Babylon the Chaldeans, May 10, 1925; Co- consecrators were Hormisdas Etienne Djibri , Archbishop of Kerkūk of the Chaldeans , and Athanase Cyrille Georges Dallal , the Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Baghdad . On April 29, 1946 he was appointed titular Archbishop of Martyropolis and on September 17, 1947 he became Patriarch of Babylon the Chaldeans.
Joseph Ghanima was a priest for over 54 years, of which a total of 33 years was bishop . Under his reign the seat of the Patriarch was moved from Mosul to Baghdad.
