Joseph Geishüttner (born March 1, 1763 in Gmunden , Upper Austria, † January 5, 1805 in Linz ) was an Austrian Catholic moral and pastoral theologian.

Geishüttner studied theology at the general seminar in Vienna. In 1789 he was ordained a Catholic priest. After completing his studies, he took over a rural parish in the Diocese of Linz . He also became a catechist at the Linz secondary school. After the general seminars were abolished, a theological educational institution was set up in Linz. In 1793 he became professor of moral and pastoral theology there , in 1801 Regens and in 1803 cathedral scholasters . Geishüttner turned down a call to the dogmatics chair at the University of Vienna because of his great love of home. Geishüttner's moral doctrine, which he laid down in his main work “Theological Morality in a Scientific Presentation”, is based primarily on the science of Johann Gottlieb Fichte .
