Joseph Hasner from Artha

Joseph Hasner Ritter von Artha (born August 13, 1819 in Prague ; † February 2, 1892 there ) was a Bohemian ophthalmologist .

Life

Josef Hasner von Artha studied in Prague and in 1842 became a secondary doctor and assistant at the eye clinic in the general hospital there. He completed his habilitation in 1848 as a private lecturer and received an oculistic department in the hospital. In 1852 he became associate professor and in 1856 full professor of ophthalmology and primary physician in Prague. He was the brother of the politician Leopold Hasner von Artha . Since 1869 he and Halla edited the Prague quarterly journal for practical medicine (since 1880 the journal for medicine ).

According to him, the plica lacrimalis , a fold of the mucous membrane located in the lower nasal passage at the mouth of the tear-nasal duct , is called Hasner's fold .
