Joseph Korwin-Kossakowski (Lithuanian: Juozapas Antanas Kosakovskis, Polish Józef Korwin-Kossakowski , * 1772 in Martyniškis ; †  1842 in Liukonys , now county Širvintos ) was a Lithuanian-General, adjutant of Napoleon , an officer in the French army and followers of Tadeusz Kosciuszko during the Polish-Lithuanian uprisings in the 19th century.

Life

In 1812 Joseph Korwin-Kossakowski joined the French army. Like several patriotic officers from Poland-Lithuania , he wanted to restore the dual state within the borders of 1772. Joseph Korwin-Kossakowski became Napoleon I's first adjutant; then he was promoted to general and was awarded the title of Comte .

Joseph Korwin-Kossakowski was a military commander in Moscow. The general is buried in the mausoleum of the Church of St. James the Apostle in Jonava .
