Joseph Mwengi Mutua
Joseph Mwengi Mutua (born December 10, 1978 in Machakos , Machakos County ) is a Kenyan middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter course .
Career
The 1996 junior world champion was eliminated from the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. In 2002 he won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester and achieved his personal best on August 16 in Zurich with 1: 43.33 minutes. In 2004 on January 31st in Stuttgart he set the current African record over 800 m in the hall with 1: 44.71 min, finished sixth at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest and reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Athens .
On August 24, 2006, he put together with William Yiampoy , Ismael Kipngetich Kombich and Wilfred Bungei in Brussels the current world record in the 4 x 800-meter relay race on (7: 02,43 min).
