Joseph Nitti

Joseph Nitti (* 25. July 1934 in Périgueux ) is an Italian diplomat in retirement .

Life

He studied at La Sapienza University and entered the foreign service. From 1961 he was employed in the mission next to the UN headquarters . In 1964 he was appointed vice consul there. From 1967 to 1971 he was first class delegation secretary at the UN headquarters . From 1971 to 1973 he was Minister Counselor in Moscow . From 1973 to 1975 he was employed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Italy) . From 1976 to 1980 he was First Class Counselor in Brussels . From February 26, 1981 to February 6, 1984 he was ambassador to Guatemala City . In 1985 he was employed in a leading position in the human resources department. From June 20, 1988 to 1992 he was ambassador to Budapest Hungary. In 1993 he was head of human resources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From February 15, 1995 to 1999 he was ambassador to Vienna . In 2000 he headed the European Union department and was retired .
