Joseph Posenaer
Joseph Posenaer (born November 23, 1876 in Antwerp ; † January 29, 1935 there ) was a Belgian genre and landscape painter.
Posenaer studied at the Académie royale des beaux-arts d'Anvers with Jean-Baptiste Michiels and Frans Lauwers, after which he continued his studies at the Antwerp institute supérieur.
He began his artistic career in 1899 when he won the Nicaise De Keyser Prize. In 1901 he won the City of Antwerp Prize and the Rome Prize, which enabled him to stay in Italy, thanks to the painting "Troost of the Bedrukten". He also visited North Africa.
