Joseph von Mentzingen

Joseph Freiherr von und zu Mentzingen (born June 3, 1900 in Munich ; died June 24, 1974 in Heidelberg ) was a German landowner.

Joseph von Mentzingen attended the Stella Matutina Jesuit college in Feldkirch . In 1918 he was drafted into military service and only graduated from high school in Karlsruhe in 1919 . Von Mentzingen studied law and political science and agriculture and forestry. He was an agricultural trainee on Swedish, Hungarian and German estates and, after a bank internship in Mannheim , was elected executive board member of the Baden Landowners Association in 1928. From 1928 to 1932 he was a member of the Center Party . From 1933 he managed the family's agricultural property.

On May 1, 1933 , von Mentzingen joined the NSDAP . During the Second World War he was appointed to the Foreign Service of the German Reich and from July 1, 1940 , he was employed in the radio department of the military commander in Belgium . Since February 1, 1942, he has headed the cultural department. From the end of 1944 he was interned in Belgium .

Nothing is known about his denazification or further activities.
