Joseph von Wrede

Joseph Freiherr von Wrede -Melschede (born January 30, 1896 in Waldhof; † December 8, 1981 in Warburg ) was a German local politician and district administrator ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and high school , Wrede studied forestry from 1921 to 1925 at the Forest Academy in Hannoversch Münden and in Munich, where he graduated as a qualified forest manager . During the Second World War he was reserve officer of the cavalry regiment No. 15 in Schloss Neuhaus , where he was drafted as Rittmeister (captain), later major, and took over as commander of the “home horse park”.

From 1951 to 1971 he managed the family property, which consisted of the former Willebadessen monastery and the associated lands and forests.

He was married and had five children.

Public offices

From 1954 to 1969 he was a member of the district council of the former Warburg district and was district administrator of the district from November 14, 1956 to November 25, 1969 . He was also a member of the municipal council of the municipality of Willebadessen .
