Josh Moshier

Josh Moshier (born May 17, 1986 ) is an American jazz pianist , arranger and composer .

Moshier holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University , where he studied jazz piano with Joan Hickey, jazz arrangement with Tom Garling and orchestration with Aaron Travers. He wrote arrangements for Hal Leonard ( All About Trumpet ) and composed music for Harpo Sounds ( The Oprah Winfrey Show ). He is a member of the Chicago Jazz Composers Collective and recorded the debut album Joy Not Jaded with his Chicago quartet, which he co-led with saxophonist Mike Lebrun . With a scholarship from Chamber Music America New Jazz Works , he wrote the Studs Terkel Project suite in 2010 , which is inspired by the writer's works and premieres in Chicago in May 2011.
