Joshua Norris Hollis (born May 6, 1875 in Bradford , † 3rd quarter 1944 in Nottingham ) was an English football player .

Career

Hollis came to the English first division club Nottingham Forest in 1895 and played there mostly in the reserve team. The position of right winger was mostly occupied by Fred Forman during Hollis' club membership . In August 1895 he showed in summer temperatures on the occasion of a 0-1 defeat in a public practice game between the first team (“Reds”) and the reserve (“Whites”) of Forest a “good” performance. After the game, a large number of the players used the nearby River Trent to cool off.

His only use in the Football League First Division dated October 24, 1896, when he formed the right attacking side with Charlie Richards in a 4-1 home win against Burnley FC and scored a goal. Despite the goal success, Forman was mostly used again, and Joe Dewey (1), Fred Spencer (6) and Arthur Shaw (1) tried their hand at the right wing during the season . In the summer of 1897 Hollis moved to the Southern League club Sheppey United and was next to Jack Hendry , Frank Gosling and Harry coach one of the first four newcomers; a little later his Forest teammate Bert Abbott followed.
