Josiah Ober

Josiah Ober (born February 27, 1953 in Brunswick ) is an American ancient historian .

Life

He was educated at the University of Minnesota (Bachelor of Arts, Major in History, 1975) and the University of Michigan ( Ph.D. at Chester Starr , Department of History, 1980). He was Professor of Ancient History at Montana State University (1980–1990) and Princeton University (1990–2006). He is Tsakopoulos -Kounalakis Professor in Honor of Constantine Mitsotakis and Professor of Political Science and Classics at Stanford University .
