Jost Eckert

Jost Eckert (born August 29, 1940 in Düsseldorf ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

He studied theology and philosophy in Bonn , Munich and Cologne . From 1966 to 1968 he was a chaplain and religion teacher in Düsseldorf. After receiving his doctorate in 1971 as Dr. theol. at the University of Munich , where he completed his habilitation in 1973 and was appointed private lecturer (subject: Exegesis of the New Testament). In 1974 he became a university lecturer . Since 1977 he has taught as a full professor for exegesis of the New Testament at the Trier Theological Faculty. In 1977, he turned down the call to the chair of Biblical Theology at the University of Osnabrück - Vechta . From 1987 to 1995 he was rector of the Trier Theological Faculty. Since 1994 he has also been a lecturer in Biblical Theology at Saarland University . On October 1, 2008, he was released.
