The defensive player played for FK Proleter Zrenjanin , VfB Stuttgart , Benfica Lisbon , Boavista Porto and AD Ovarense , among others .
On September 30, 1992 Simanić came in the UEFA Champions League to his only game for the professional team of VfB Stuttgart, when he came on in the 83rd minute of the second leg of the first round against Leeds United by VfB master coach Christoph Daum for Maurizio Gaudino . This substitution had serious consequences for VfB, as Eyjólfur Sverrisson , Slobodan Dubajić and Adrian Knup were already three foreign players in this game and the use of more foreigners was not allowed. Although VfB had progressed in terms of sport, there was a replay on a neutral pitch in Barcelona, in which VfB lost 2-1 and was eliminated.
