Joyce Mattagliano (born May 3, 1994 ) is an Italian athlete from Sierra Leone , who is particularly successful with the 4 x 400 meter relay .

Career

After Joyce Mattagliano ran a new best time over 800 meters of 2: 06.65 min at the Italian Championships in 2013, she was nominated for the Junior European Championships in Rieti , where she was eliminated in the first round. In 2014 she began studying at Kennesaw State University in Georgiaand this year mainly focused on cross-country and similar cross-country runs. In the indoor season she improved over 800 meters and competed in various college championships. In the open air season she ran all distances between 400 and 1500 meters and a few relay starts. She and her university team took fourth place in the Florida Relays. But in the individual competitions she was particularly successful over 800 meters. At the end of the season she finished her studies in America and returned to Europe, where she took part in the U23 European Championships in Tallinn , Estonia . Over 800 meters, she was eliminated there in the first lap and finished sixth with the Italian relay. At the Italian championships she finished third this year. In 2016 she finished fourth at the Italian Indoor Championships and won the silver medal at the U23 Mediterranean Games in Radès behind her compatriot Eleonora Vandi .
