Joyce Rouse

Joyce Rouse (* 1955 ) is an American singer-songwriter .

Rouse grew up on a farm near Cresco, Iowa, where her interest in music was aroused early on. She studied home economics at Iowa State University , where she also gained knowledge in the fields of music, theater and composition. At Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College she earned a master's degree in Earth Literacy . She first lived as a writer and singer in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where she also founded a community theater. From 1986 to 2006 she lived as a musician in Nashville, after which she returned to the Blue Ridge Mountains.

She wrote lyrics for singers like Maureen McGovern , Marie Osmond , Jennifer McCarter , Wild Rose , Jana Stanfield and Lindy Gravelle and recorded numerous CDs and albums herself, including Earth Mama , Every Day is Earth Day! , Love Large , Around the World with Earth Mama , Grass Roots! , Christmas Heart , Under the Rainbow, and Magnificent Healing . Her songs are particularly popular in the international environmental and peace movement, and Rouse has also written songs for national park celebrations, monument preservation projects and historical events. She is the founder of the music project Earth Mama .
