The Schwalmer mill was a water mill with an undershot water wheel on the upper reaches of the Niers in the Mönchengladbach district of Wanlo in the administrative district of Düsseldorf .

The Schwalmer Mühle was located on the right side of the Niers on the Schweinemarkt street in the Mönchengladbach district of Wanlo. Above was the Wilderather Mühle , below the Pletschmühle . The area on which the mill building stood has a height of approx. 69 m above sea ​​level .

history

The first documentary mention of the Schwalmer mill goes back to 1650. The mill belonged to the Schwalmen manor and at that time was owned by Rittermeister de Haye. Over time, the owners changed several times. In the 17th century the mill came by marriage to the bailiff and Vogt v the Office Kaster. Crafft. Since then, the second name of the mill has also been called Vogtsmühle.

The Schwalmer mill was operated as an oil mill from the start . It was only 350 m away from the Wilderather mill.
