history
The first written mention of the Pletschmühle goes back to 1533. Around 1650 it belonged to the Keyenberg family, a manor south of Wanlo. After long inheritance processes, Mühlenplatz was auctioned off in 1692/93. The rotten mill was rebuilt and used as a grinding mill .
The mill was first operated as a fulling mill . The upstream mill pond and the overshot water wheel of the mill ensured good energy utilization. The excessive use and the rippling water gave the mill its name. After a change of ownership in 1817, the mill was also named Brandsmühle after the owner . Today only the street name An der Mühle reminds of the former location. With the straightening of the Niers in 1870, the mill operation was also stopped.
