history
The Pixmühle was mentioned in a document in 1509 as a muelen in front of Pixhoff uff der Neersen . The original oil mill belonged to the Pixhof and was expanded by another grinder in 1563 by its owner, Mr. von Neuenahr . From now on she was also able to work as a wage mill . Over the centuries there have been frequent changes of ownership. The Pixmühle also had the names Pongsmühle , Grosmühle , Kroschmühle , Tilmansmühle and Untere Mühle . Around 1860 the entrepreneur Cornelius Pongs bought the mill and converted it into a cotton mill . The mill wheel served to drive a tearing machine. The good economic situation allowed the company to expand to include a weaving mill , a roughing mill and a wadding factory . In 1928 the company was relocated to Neuwerk . The Pixmühle and the no longer used factory buildings were closed and demolished in 1930.
