Juan Sebastián Agudelo (born November 23, 1992 in Manizales , Colombia ) is an American football player.
Career
society
Agudelo was born in Colombia and moved to the United States when she was eight. From that time he lived in Barnegat Township, New Jersey . There he also played soccer. From 2007 he played in the New York Red Bull Academy , the youth division of the New York Red Bulls . He quickly established himself and managed to attention within the Major League Soccer - franchise . In 2009 he was offered to move to the Bulls junior team. He refused and spent some time on loan with the Colombian team CD Los Millonarios . There he played in the club's youth team.
In the spring of 2010 he returned to New York. He played his first competitive game on April 27, 2010 against Philadelphia Union in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup . On October 9, 2010, he played for the first time in a Major League Soccer game. He came on in the 85th minute against Real Salt Lake . He scored his first goal on March 26, 2011 on the first day of the 2011 MLS season against the Seattle Sounders .
After the end of the 2011 soccer season in the USA, Agudelo started training at VfB Stuttgart on November 16, 2011 in order to keep fit. In May 2012 he moved to CD Chivas USA and in May 2013 to New England Revolution ; there he completed 14 games. He moved to the English Premier League for Stoke City on January 1, 2014 . Due to a lack of a work permit, he could not appear for Stoke City and was loaned to FC Utrecht . In May 2014, Stoke City tried again unsuccessfully to get a work permit for Agudelo. Thus his contract was terminated. On January 29, 2015, Agudelo returned to the New England Revolution.
On December 3, 2019, Agudelo was selected in the Toronto FC Re-Entry Draft . However, neither party could agree on a contract.
For the 2020 season, Agudelo switched to the new Inter Miami franchise . In return, Toronto FC received the first-round draft pick of the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.
National team
Agudelo was part of the US U-17 national team for the 2009 U-17 World Cup .
In early 2010 he made his debut in the United States U-20 national team . In a friendly against Brazil on January 23, 2010, he equalized the final score of 1: 1.
On November 11, 2010, he was called up for a friendly against South Africa in the senior team. In this game on November 17, 2010 he also scored his first goal for the USA. At the age of 17, he is the US's youngest goalscorer in an international match.
