Juan Bautista Rico
Juan Bautista Rico (religious name: Juan Bautista de la Concepción , born July 10, 1561 in Almodovar del Campo, Ciudad Real , Spain ; † February 14, 1618 in Cordova, Spain) was a Spanish religious reformer. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church .
Juan, who studied theology and philosophy, entered the Trinitarian order in 1580 and campaigned for a reform of the order. In 1599 his reform branch of the Discalced Trinitarians was approved. Rico founded several Trinitarian monasteries in Spain. He was known as a strict ascetic and worked as a spiritual writer. In 1975 Juan Bautista Rico was appointed by Pope Paul VI. canonized .
