Juan Carlos Ávila Juanías (born June 27, 1973 in Puerto Carreño ) is a Colombian politician.

Career

After studying law at the Universidad de los Llanos in Villavicencio , which he completed with a doctorate , he worked as a lawyer from 2004 . Ávila is a member of the left-wing liberal Partido Liberal Colombiano (PLC). In 2006 he was defeated by the previous governor and ex-Colonel Blas Arvelio Ortiz Rebolledo from the Partido de la U ( Partido Social de Unidad Nacional ) in a regional election campaign characterized by strong political conflicts . After investigations by the Colombian State Council against Ortiz for bribery and electoral fraud, there was a recount, after which the competent administrative court appointed Juan Carlos Ávila as the new governor of the Department of Vichada .
