Juan Carlos Rey Salgado

Juan Carlos Rey Salgado (* 1952 in Palma de Mallorca , Spain ) is a Spanish diplomat serving the European Union .

Career

In 1974 Rey received a bachelor's degree in biology. Until 1988 he worked as an oceanographer at the Instituto Español de Oceanografía . Rey then worked at the European Commission for International Negotiations on Sea, Fisheries and Development Affairs. In 1996, Rey was appointed ambassador for the European Commission to Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands . In 2001 he received the same post in Mauritius , the Seychelles and the Comoros . From 2008 to 2012 Rey was the European Union's ambassador and head of the delegation in East Timor . In 2012 Rey received the Insígnia des Ordem de Timor-Leste .

In addition to published scientific work, he also writes for the magazine of the Asociación Española de Estudios del Pacífico .
