Juan Evaristo (born June 20, 1902 in Buenos Aires , † May 8, 1978 ) was an Argentine football player .

The 1.71 meter tall midfielder Juan Evaristo, brother of the football player Mario Evaristo , first played for Sportivo Barracas from 1924 to 1926 . From 1927 to 1930 he was a member of the Sportivo Palermo squad . From 1931 he joined the Boca Juniors . He made his debut at the club from Buenos Aires on August 30, 1931 in a 3-1 away win against Atlanta and completed a total of 24 league games and four friendly matches for the club, with which he won the first national championship in Argentine professional football in 1931. From there he moved to the Argentinos Juniors in 1933 , was used in two Primera División games for CA Independiente the following year and was back in the ranks of the Argentinos Juniors in 1936.

National team

Evaristo was also a member of the national team of his home country and took part with her both in the Olympic Games in 1928 and in the first football World Cup in 1930 . In the Olympic final Argentina lost 2-1 to neighboring Uruguay, which meant that he and his teammates won the silver medal. He also won the South American Championships ( Copa America ) with Argentina in 1927 and 1929 . In total, he completed 25 international matches between 1923 and 1930, in which he scored one goal.
