Judah Jeitteles

Juda Jeitteles (March 1773 in Prague ; † June 6, 1838 in Vienna ) was a Jewish orientalist in Vienna.

Life

Juda Jeitteles was the son of the Jewish doctor Jonas Jeitteles from Prague and the brother of the enlightened Rabbi Baruch Jeitteles . He had two other brothers named Gottlieb and Isaak.

meaning

Juda Jeitteles devoted himself to the study of oriental languages and literatures, to which he was inspired by his brother Baruch. He wrote the first Aramaic grammar in the Hebrew language . He also published some books of the Bible in German with Hebrew commentaries. He also wrote a biography of his father.
