Judy Erola

Judith "Judy" A. Erola PC (birth name: Judith Jacobson ; born January 16, 1934 in Sudbury , Ontario ) is a Canadian tax clerk, entrepreneur and politician for the Liberal Party of Canada , who was for some time a member of the lower house and minister.

Life

Judy Erola, who worked as an entrepreneur, radio presenter for the broadcaster CKSO-TV and administrative manager of the radio station CHNO-FM, ran for a seat in the lower house for the first time unsuccessfully in the lower house election on May 22, 1979 as an applicant of the Liberal Party in the Nickel Belt constituency . In the subsequent general election on February 18, 1980 , she was elected as a member of this constituency, but lost her mandate again in the general election on September 4, 1984 .

On March 3, 1980 she was first Minister of State for Mining and held this office until August 11, 1983. At the same time, Judy Erola was on September 22, 1981 by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau as Minister with responsibility for the status of women in the 22nd Canadian Cabinet appointed and took over this ministerial office in the 23rd government of Canada formed by Trudeau's successor John Turner from June 30 to September 16, 1984 . She was also Minister for Consumer and Corporate Affairs from August 12, 1983 to September 16, 1984, and Minister of State for Social Development between June 30 and September 1, 1984.

Most recently she was President of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers' Association of Canada between 1987 and 1998 .
