Repo, who started for the Iisalmen Visa , made its first international appearance at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo . There he took 23rd place over 15 km and fifth place with the relay. At the beginning of April 1972 in Ruka he came second behind Walter Demel over 30 km. In March 1974 he won the Lahti Ski Games over 50 km. In the 1974/75 season he was at the Lahti Ski Games over 50 km, at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival over 15 km and with the relay in Reit im Winkl third and fourth at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival over 50 km and thus achieved sixth place in the unofficial overall World Cup . In the following season he won the Svenska Skidspelen with the relay and ran in Ramsau am Dachstein to second place with the relay. At the season's highlight, the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , he came in 22nd place over 30 km and ninth place over 50 km. At the Holmenkollen Ski Festival in 1976 he achieved fifth place over 50 km and at the end of the season seventh place in the unofficial overall World Cup. In the following year he came third in Telemark and third in Le Brassus . After third place at the beginning of the 1977/78 season in Davos with the relay, he took third place in Reit im Winkl with the relay and over 15 km and third place over 50 km at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival and thus achieved tenth place in the unofficial overall world cup. He had his last podium finish in international races in January 1979 in Reit im Winkl with third place in the relay. At Finnish championships he won over 50 km in 1975 and over 30 km in 1976.
