Jukka Leino (born June 10, 1978 in Heinävesi ) is a former Finnish ski racer . He specialized in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom .
biography
In January 1995, Leino first took part in FIS races . His development was relatively slow, appearances in the European Cup only followed from February 2000. He contested the first World Cup race on December 10, 2000 (giant slalom in Val-d'Isère ). The following seasons were marked by numerous failures and Leino looked in vain to join the top of the world.
As 23rd of the slalom in Wengen , Leino finally got the first World Cup points on January 19th, 2003. Exactly one year later he achieved his best World Cup result with 11th place in the same place. With the exception of 2007, he was able to classify himself several times in the points. In the 2007/08 season he concentrated on the European Cup: He won two races, placed 5th in the overall standings and won the giant slalom discipline.
At world championships Leino took part from 2003 onwards. The best result he achieved was 17th in the giant slalom 2009 . After the 2009/10 season, in which he did not win any more World Cup points, Leino withdrew from top-class sport. Since then he has mainly competed in FIS races in his home country.
