Jules-Auguste-Ghislain Bastin (March 23, 1889 - December 1, 1944 ) was a major general in the Belgian armed forces .

Life

Bastin completed an officer training and after its completion found various uses in the army . He was promoted to colonel on March 26, 1939 and was chief of the staff of the cavalry corps at the beginning of the attack by the German Wehrmacht in 1940. He served as major general between 1942 and 1943 as head of the Belgian Legion and in 1943 as commander in chief of the Armée Secrète . In 1943 he was arrested by the German occupation forces and died on December 1, 1944 in a concentration camp .
