Jules-François Lecoq (born October 8, 1821 in Vire , Calvados , † December 26, 1892 in Nantes ) was a French bishop of the 19th century .

Life

Jules-François Lecoq, pastor of Saint-Jean in Caen , was appointed bishop of the diocese of Luçon by decree of the President of the Republic, Patrice de Mac-Mahon , of January 11th, 1875 , and on March 15th of that year by Pope Pius IX. preconized and consecrated on May 1st by Bishop Hugonin ; Appointed Bishop of Nantes by decree of July 30, 1877 , he was transferred there by papal letter of August 20, 1877 and solemnly enthroned on August 25.

During his episcopate , the construction of the cathedral of Nantes was completed and the basilica of Saint-Donatien was rebuilt. He died on December 26, 1892. The funeral sermon was given by Abel-Anastase Germain , Bishop of Coutances . He was succeeded by Auguste-Léopold Laroche .
