Félix Jules Méline (born May 20, 1838 in Remiremont , † December 21, 1925 in Paris ) was a French lawyer and politician of the moderate right.

Félix Jules Méline was a member of the Vosges Department from 1876 to 1903 , and in 1888 he was chairman of the Chamber of Deputies . From 1903 to 1925 he was a senator . From 1883 to 1885 and from 1915 to 1916 he was Minister of Agriculture. From 1896 to 1898 he was Prime Minister of France and played a role in both the settlement of the conflict with Italy and the Dreyfus affair .

Méline, who himself came from a rural area, was particularly committed to the interests of the rural and rural population. He enforced protectionist protective tariffs for agricultural products and created the Order of Merit in Agriculture ( Ordre du Mérite agricole ) on July 7, 1883 . In 1894, Méline founded the Crédit Agricole bank . He was also president of the French industrial association.
