Julia Fox (2019)

Julia Fox (born 1989 or 1990 in Milan ) is an Italian - American actress . She was best known for her acting debut in the 2019 film The Black Diamond , for which she was nominated for the Breakthrough Actor Award at the Gotham Awards 2019 .

Life

Fox was born to an Italian mother and an American father. She grew up with her grandfather. At the age of six she moved with her father to New York City and lived in the district of Yorkville in Manhattan . Fox attended City-As-School high school and worked as a dominatrix for six months, among other things .

Before her role in The Black Diamond , Fox was a fashion designer and started a successful women's knitting line called Franziska Fox with her friend Briana Andalore. She also worked as a model , painter and photographer. She published two photo books herself. In 2017, Fox hosted an art exhibition called RIP Julia Fox , which featured canvases painted with her own blood.

From 2018 to 2020, Fox was married to Peter Artemiev, a private pilot from New York City.

Career

Fox made her feature film debut in 2019 in the film The Black Diamond by the brothers Benny and Josh Safdie, playing a saleswoman in a jewelry store and the lover of the protagonist Howard Ratner (played by Adam Sandler ), a gambling addict, unpredictable jewelry dealer. Fox had known the Safdie brothers for about ten years.

Fox also wrote and directed the short film Fantasy Girls, about a group of teenage girls doing sex work in Reno, Nevada .
