Juliane Preisler

Juliane Preisler (born July 23, 1959 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) is a Danish writer and poet .

Life

Juliane Preisler is the daughter of the philosopher Peter Zinkernagel and stepdaughter of the editor Gerd Preisler. After graduating from Sortedam Gymnasium in 1978, she studied comparative literature at the University of Copenhagen until she successfully completed her master's degree in 1984 . A year earlier she made her debut as a poet with the poetry collection Uden . Later she wrote for magazines and for the theater and translated some works.

Her novel Dyr , published in 1992, was filmed in 1997 by the future Oscar winner Susanne Bier with Sofie Gråbøl and Ellen Hillingsø in the leading roles under the title Sects . Under the German title Merciless Seduction , the psychological thriller was broadcast on German television on May 8, 2000 by ZDF .

Her only work published in German is the novel Glas , published in 1998 and translated by Walburg Wohlleben . The book was published under the same title in 2001 by Deutsches Taschenbuch Verlag .

Preisler has been married to the playwright Peter Asmussen since 1996 . The couple live in Copenhagen and are childless.
