Walburg Wohlleben
Walburg Wohlleben (also: Walburg Wohlleben-Behre , born June 25, 1945 in Schönwald / Upper Franconia ) is a German literary translator .
Life
Walburg Wohlleben comes from a refugee family who settled in Hof after 1945 . From 1952 Walburg Wohlleben grew up with a Danish foster family in North Jutland , where she learned the Danish language . After graduating , she studied Scandinavian studies at the universities in Bonn and Copenhagen and published her first literary translations . She later trained as a teacher and social worker . Together with her husband she ran a bookstore in Bad Münstereifel for 15 years . Wohlleben has been working as a freelance translator since the death of her husband . She translates novels , books for young people and non-fiction from Danish, Norwegian and Swedish into German .
Walburg Wohlleben is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works . She lives in Bad Münstereifel.
