Peter Asmussen

Peter Asmussen (born March 28, 1957 in Frederiksberg , Denmark , † June 25, 2016 ) was a Danish writer , playwright and screenwriter .

Life

Peter Asmussen was the son of the philologist Jes Peter Asmussen . He graduated from Østre Borgerdyd Gymnasium in 1975 . He made his debut as a writer in 1989 with the Stemme short story collection . Three years later, in 1992, he made his debut novel with Om natten . For his third novel, Og til sidst går verden under , published in 2014 , he was nominated for the DR Novel Prize in 2015 .

Asmussen made his film debut in 1995 with the script for Tómas Gislason's short film Onde år . From then on he wrote scripts for directors such as Lars von Trier , Bille August and Susanne Bier . He also wrote frequently for director Simon Staho's films . Together with him he received two nominations for the Danish film award Robert for Best Original Screenplay , each for Dag och natt and Daisy Diamond .

Asmussen wrote several radio plays for the radio, including Råb and Schyy . He made his debut as a playwright with the play Ungt blod , which was premiered at Det Kongelige Teater in 1992 . He has received several awards for his work, including the Kjeld Abell Prize and the Danske Dramatikeres Hæderspris in 2000 . In addition, he was nominated four times for the national theater prize Reumert as best playwright : 2004 with Alle hans gerninger , 2010 with Ingen møder nogen , 2015 with Det der er and 2016 with Soli Deo Gloria , where he was also awarded in 2010 and 2016.

Asmussen had been married to the writer Juliane Preisler since 1996 . The childless couple lived in Copenhagen .
