Julien Andavo Mbia

Julien Andavo Mbia (born September 5, 1950 in Liago ) is Roman Catholic Bishop of Isiro-Niangara .

Andavo was born in Liago in the Faradje territory in what is now the province of Ober-Uelle in what was then the Belgian Congo . He studied theology in Kinshasa and Freiburg in Üechtland . On February 1, 2003, he was appointed Bishop of Isiro-Niangara by John Paul II .

Life

Studies

The Andavo résumé is strongly influenced by rebels. Because of the communist-muleleist rebellion in Eastern Congo in 1964 , he had to interrupt the 6th primary class for one year. After attending the small seminary in Rungu, he studied philosophy for three years at the major seminary in Muresha near Bukavu from 1972 to 1975, then three years of theology at the same place. He then moved to the Catholic faculty of Kinshasa, where he obtained his licentiate in 1982. Three years later he went to Freiburg im Üechtland, where he received his doctorate in 1995 .

Pastoral work

In 1976 Andavo was a lecturer at the little seminary of St. Theresa of the Child in Rungu and in the following year acolyte in the parish of St. Charles Luanga in Gombari . Another year later, in 1978, he became a deacon at the parish of Nyakasanza ( Diocese of Bunia ) and finally on 26 August 1979 in Faradje for ordained priests . In 1980/81 he worked as vicar in the parish of St. Paulus in Makoro (diocese Isiro-Niangara), the next three years as an economist at the Catholic faculty of Kinshasa and until 2001 as a professor at the interdiocesan seminary of St. Cyprien in Bunia . He then worked until 2003 as Vice Rector and Rector at the St. Augustin Interdiocesan Seminary in Kisangani . After Andavo was appointed bishop of Isiro-Niangara by John Paul II on February 1, 2003 , the episcopal ordination took place on March 19, 2003 by Frédéric Etsou-Nzabi-Bamungwabi in Isiro Cathedral.
