The Roman Catholic Diocese of Isiro-Niangara ( Latin Dioecesis Isirensis-Niangaraensis , French Diocèse d'Isiro-Niangara ) is in the Democratic Republic of Congo situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Isiro .
history
The diocese Isiro-Niangara was established on December 18, 1911 by Pope Pius X. from cession of territory of the Apostolic Prefecture Uélé as Apostolic Prefecture East-Uélé . On May 6, 1924, the Apostolic Prefecture East Uélé was by Pope Pius XI. raised to the apostolic vicariate . The Apostolic Vicariate Ost-Uélé was on December 14, 1926 by Pius XI. Renamed with the Apostolic Constitution Cum ex Apostolico in Apostolic Vicariate Niangara . On February 24, 1958, the Vicariate Apostolic Niangara gave parts of its territory to the establishment of the Apostolic Prefecture Doruma .
The Apostolic Vicariate Niangara was on November 10, 1959 by Pope John XXIII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Kisangani as a suffragan . On March 23, 1970, the diocese of Niangara was renamed the Isiro-Niangara diocese .
