Julius Corentin Acquefacques

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Julius Corentin Acquefacques is a cartoon character by the French draftsman Marc-Antoine Mathieu . The surname is a sonic backward palindrome by Kafka and the volumes are also characterized by a Kafkaesque style.

Julius Corentin Acquefacques is an official with the Ministry of Humor. He lives in a tiny room in a completely overpopulated, huge city. Those who do not adhere to the strict rules there can expect severe penalties. Acquefacques is repeatedly confronted with surreal dreams or anomalies. This can go to the limits of what can be told and asks questions about space, dimensions and time.

In France the volumes have been published by Delcourt since 1990 , but in Germany by Carlsen and Reprodukt .

Volume 3, The Vortex won the Best Scenario Award in Angoulême ; Volume 6, The Shift , with the Geneva City Comics Prize .
