The Prix ​​de la Ville de Genève pour la bande dessinée (German: Prize of the City of Geneva for Comics ) is the name given to two prizes for comics awarded annually by the City of Geneva since 1997 .

The “Prix de la Ville de Genève pour la bande dessinée” consists of two different prizes, both endowed with CHF 10,000 and awarded at the same time by the same jury.

  • The Prix ​​international de la Ville de Genève pour la bande dessinée ( International Prize of the City of Geneva for Comics ) is awarded to French-language comic books published in the last 12 months.
  • The Prix ​​Rodolphe Töpffer pour la jeune bande dessinée genevoise ( Rodolphe Töpffer Prize for the young Geneva comic ) is also limited to authors who are less than 40 years old and who have lived in Geneva for at least two years.

A selection committee will select up to 13 works in both categories at the beginning of autumn. Among these, the jury first nominates three works in each category and then awards the two prizes. The jury consists of the director of the Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l'image in Angoulême , the director of the Belgian Comics Center in Brussels, the director of the École des arts décoratifs de Genève , the cultural department of the city ​​council of Geneva and at least two comic authors .
