history
The bivouac was built in 1963. It offers 8 beds and has a simple, functional interior with dishes. It is the starting point for reaching the Weisshorn via the Schaligrat.
Approaches
- Only in summer: From the Rothornhütte by traversing the Schalihörner (normal route) in 8 hours, 1100 meters in altitude, level of difficulty ZS.
Because the glaciers are heavily feral, access from the west ( Cabane Arpitettaz ) is barely possible, and from the east ( Weisshornhütte ) only to a limited extent. Recommended only with good snow coverage. Information at the Weisshornhütte.
