Julius elbow

Julius Ellenbogen (born April 7, 1878 in Bruchsal , † August 30, 1961 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German lawyer .

Career

Elbow came as the son of Daniel Elbow and Babette Elbow, nee. Deer, to the world. After studying law at Heidelberg University , he settled in Karlsruhe as a lawyer in 1903. From 1928 to 1940 he was a member of the Upper Council of the Israelites Baden , managing director and from August 3, 1938 its last chairman. As part of the Wagner-Bürckel action he was on 22 October 1940 together with his wife and most of Baden Jews in the internment camp Gurs deported .

At the end of 1945 he returned to Germany. He became a judge at the highest court for the French zone of occupation and chairman of a ruling chamber . In 1945 the upper council was brought back to life and remained its president until his death.
