Carl Julius Esche (born January 30, 1814 in Limbach ; † August 29, 1867 there ) was a German textile entrepreneur and politician.

Live and act

The son of the Limbach hosiery manufacturer Moritz Samuel Esche (1785-1854) and great-grandson of Johann Esche (1682-1752), who is considered the founder of hosiery in Saxony, took over the father's company in 1843 together with his brother Theodor Esche . In 1853 they built the first “closed establishment” for stocking knitting in Saxony, in which 110 workers were employed. There was also a finishing plant for 60 workers.

As a representative of the 34th, 35th and 36th electoral districts, he was a member of the first chamber of the Saxon state parliament in 1849 . In 1851/52 and 1854/55 he was a deputy member of the Second Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Esche was married to Anna Clara Clauß (1824–1920) since 1844. Of the two sons, after the death of their father in 1867 , Eugen Esche became co-owners of the Moritz Samuel Esche hosiery factory, along with his uncle Theodor Esche and Eduard Wiede , which was relocated to Chemnitz in 1870 because of the more favorable rail link to Zwickau . Eugen Esche was a free-spirited member of the state parliament from 1890 to 1893 . His brother Arthur Esche had a doctorate in law and from 1893 to 1903 a national liberal member of the Reichstag .
